Any gardeners amongst our perimeter walkers?
For those in Northwest Philly, I just learned via the Citizens Planning Institute newsletter that there are a bunch of garden plots available in the organic gardens at Manatawna Farms – this big plot of community gardens are directly on the city border, bisected by the perimeter.
A former neighbor used to have a plot there, and they are apparently quite generously sized. If you’re looking to grow some things, maybe this is an opportunity for you?
For folks in other parts of the city, there are at least two other major community gardens on or near the city’s edge:
If you end up gardening there or know anyone who’s got a plot in one of these, get in touch… maybe we’ll do a walk event at one of these gardens someday.
